Updated for New Lotto (10 June 2026)
UK Lotto now runs two draws every Wednesday and Saturday. One line is entered in both. The odds below are per round; the lower tiers were reduced when the second draw was introduced. Full explanation: New Lotto rules 2026.
Important
Odds do not change based on when you play or which numbers you pick. Each line has the same probability.
UK Lotto prize structure (official odds)
Each round is a standard 6-from-59 draw, so these odds apply per round.
| Tier | Match | Odds (per round) | Typical prize |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 6 main numbers | 1 in 45,057,474 | Jackpot, shared across both rounds |
| 2 | 5 main + bonus ball | 1 in 7,509,579 | £1 million |
| 3 | 5 main numbers | 1 in 144,415 | ~£1,000 |
| 4 | 4 main numbers | 1 in 2,180 | ~£50 |
| 5 | 3 main numbers | 1 in 97 | £10 |
| 6 | 2 main numbers | 1 in 10.3 | £1 |
Overall odds of winning any prize: 1 in 4.9. Your chance in a single round is still about 1 in 9.3, but one line plays two independent rounds — missing both is 0.892 × 0.892 ≈ 0.797, so winning at least one prize is roughly 1 in 4.9.
Changed on 10 June 2026: Match 3 dropped from £30 to £10, and Match 2 no longer pays a free Lucky Dip — it pays £1 in cash. These reductions fund the second draw.

How prizes are set
- Jackpot (Match 6): Rolls over when not won; capped by Must Be Won.
- Match 5+Bonus: Fixed £1 million.
- Match 5 and below: Usually pari-mutuel—shared among all winners in that tier.
Actual amounts vary by draw. Check UK Lotto draws for recent payouts per tier.
Match 2 — most common win
Match 2 (two main numbers correct) is the most frequent winning tier. Since 10 June 2026 it pays £1 in cash; before that date it paid a free Lucky Dip for the next draw. With two rounds per evening, a single line now has two chances to reach this tier — but at £1 against a £2 line, the game remains negative in expected value.
Must Be Won
When the jackpot hits the cap, the next draw is Must Be Won. If no one matches all 6, the jackpot is shared among Match 5+Bonus, Match 5, etc., according to the rules. The jackpot is always won on that draw.

FAQ
What are the exact odds for each tier?
The National Lottery publishes official odds. The table above uses those figures. For the latest, see national-lottery.co.uk.
Do Match 2 winners still get a free ticket?
No. Since 10 June 2026 the Match 2 tier pays £1 in cash instead of a free Lucky Dip. See New Lotto rules 2026.
Do the odds in this table apply to the whole evening?
No — they apply to one round. Since a single line is entered in both rounds, your chance of winning something across the evening is about 1 in 4.9 rather than 1 in 9.3.
How much is the jackpot usually?
It varies. Starts around £2M Wed / £3.8M Sat, rolls over when not won, and is capped by Must Be Won. Check UK Lotto draws for current and recent jackpots.
Can I see past prize payouts on Fetix?
Yes. Each draw on UK Lotto draws shows winners and amounts per tier.
Does matching the bonus ball alone win anything?
No. You need at least 2 main numbers. The bonus ball matters only when you have 5 main numbers correct (Match 5+Bonus).
