Overview
Lotto HotPicks lets you pick 5, 4, 3, 2, or 1 number(s) from the UK Lotto main pool (1–59). You win if your picks match the main 6 numbers drawn. Each pick type has different odds and prizes.
None of the pick types offers positive expected value. The question is which aligns with your risk preference—higher odds, lower prize vs lower odds, higher prize.
Odds and prizes are set by the operator. Fetix does not sell tickets or guarantee winnings.
Important
"Best value" in a negative-EV game means least bad, not profitable. All HotPicks types lose money on average.

Expected value (simplified)
For a £1 ticket, expected return is (prize × probability) − £1. All types are negative:
- Pick 1: ~£8 × (1/9.8) − £1 ≈ −£0.18 per £1
- Pick 2: ~£60 × (1/10.3) − £1 ≈ −£0.42 per £1
- Pick 3: ~£800 × (1/97) − £1 ≈ −£0.75 per £1
- Pick 4 and Pick 5: Even more negative (tiny win probability)
So Pick 1 has the "least bad" expected value—you lose less per ticket on average. But you win small amounts more often. Pick 5 wins rarely but pays £350K when it does.
Which pick type "gives best value"?
- If by "value" you mean expected return: Pick 1 loses the least per ticket. Still a loss.
- If by "value" you mean fun / frequency of small wins: Pick 1 and Pick 2 win more often.
- If by "value" you mean dream of big win: Pick 5. But odds are brutal—1 in 2.2 million.
There is no pick type that makes HotPicks profitable. It is a lottery add-on with negative expected value.
HotPicks vs main UK Lotto
HotPicks uses the same draw as UK Lotto. You pay £1 for HotPicks on top of your Lotto line. HotPicks Pick 5 (1 in 2.2M) is easier than UK Lotto jackpot (1 in 45M) but the prize is lower (£350K vs rollover jackpot).
