Number sequence

At a glance

A “run” = at least two consecutive numbers (e.g. 12–13), or a longer chain (e.g. 12–13–14).

It happens because numbers are drawn at random. That does not mean:

  • it is “more likely”
  • or “less likely”

A run is as legitimate as a “scattered” combination.

Why a run feels “weird” (when it is not)

Your brain likes stories:

  • a run looks like a “pattern”
  • a line like 1–7–22–39–48 feels “more random”

Both are possible random outcomes.

Check examples (without making things up)

Simple:

  • open EuroMillions draws
  • scan the last 20 draws
  • spot runs (e.g. 22–23) or (34–35–36)

You will see it happens sometimes, without becoming a rule.

If you play a run: the real “risk” (not probability)

The only pragmatic point:

  • if many people play “famous” patterns, sharing can be heavier if a tier has many winners

It does not change your chance of drawing the right numbers.

FAQ

Can a combination repeat?

Yes. Very unlikely, but possible. “Rare” is not “impossible”.

Should I avoid runs?

You can if you dislike the idea. It is not a strategy that improves your chances.
