It does not affect the jackpot (Match 6)—only the main numbers matter for that.
Each number 1–59 has an equal chance of being the bonus ball in any given draw.

The bonus ball is drawn from the remaining 53 balls after the 6 main numbers. It is a separate random draw from the same pool. The bonus ball can never duplicate a main number.

No. Past frequency does not predict the next bonus ball. Each draw is independent. A number that appeared as the bonus ball 20 times in the last year has the same probability as one that appeared 5 times.
