Thunderball number pairs

Overview

Number pairs are two specific main numbers that appear together in the same Thunderball draw. With 5 main numbers per draw, each draw produces 10 pairs. Over thousands of draws, some pairs appear more often than others—by chance alone.

Past pair frequency does not predict future draws. Each draw is independent.

Pair statistics describe historical coincidence. They do not improve your odds.

Important

If 7 and 22 have appeared together 45 times in history, that does not make them more (or less) likely to appear together next time. Each draw is random.

What are number pairs?

Number pairs are two specific numbers that appear together in the same draw. For example, if a draw has 3, 12, 19, 27, 34 and Thunder Ball 7, then (3,12), (3,19), (12,19), etc. are all pairs from that draw.

With 5 main numbers per draw, each draw produces 10 pairs. There are 741 possible pairs (39 choose 2). Over decades, randomness creates variation; some pairs naturally appear together more often.

Sample frequent pairs — all-time (illustrative)

Based on typical Lottery Stats aggregated data. Rankings vary by source and period:

Pair Appearances Source
7–22 52 Lottery Stats
14–34 51 Lottery Stats
3–31 50 Lottery Stats
12–27 49 Lottery Stats
19–39 49 Lottery Stats

Expected average per pair over ~25 years: ~45–50. Deviations of ±5–10 are normal.

Do pairs predict future draws?

No. Past pair frequency does not predict future draws. If 7 and 22 have appeared together 52 times, that does not change the probability of them appearing together in the next draw. Each draw is random.

FAQ

Can I see which Thunderball pairs appear most often?

Check Lottery Stats for pair statistics. Not all sites offer pair analysis.

Should I play "lucky" pairs?

There is no evidence that any pair is luckier. All pairs have the same probability in future draws.

How many possible pairs are there?

39 choose 2 = 741 pairs. Each draw produces 10 of them.

Do consecutive numbers (e.g. 10, 11) appear together often?

Consecutive pairs appear as often as any other pair over the long run. Short-term variation is random.

Does pair analysis improve my odds?

No. Pair statistics are for interest and analysis only. They do not predict the next draw.
